Its a cats life

one of the kittens enjoys a treat.
For the last few days we have been getting used to life with two kittens. we got them four weeks ago, and for the last few weeks they have been getting used to living in a house. Although they have been a bit naughty, On the first night they bit through the telephone wire, but my wonderfull husband got the old phone working.

My son started "kitten daycare" and now every afternoon he finds them to learn and play. Last night I found him making tiny books for the kittens, instead of reading.

one of the kittens reads a book.

One day we found them on the piano and then they walked across the keys followed by a "Dong!".
They love playing but in the evening they lie down on the sofa and watch TV with us if we are watching it.

Today we went to brighton and had a lovley time there. We saw lots of seagulls flying over the beach. But I threw a piece of fish for them and then about twenty more came!

only a few of the seagulls who came!

Sweet foods

This page is mainly going to be about sugary things such as this:

Recipe for fudge

You will need:

450g of brown sugar, 50g of butter or margarine, 275ml milk and a few drops of vanilla essence or extract.

Grease a 15 x 15cm baking tin before you start.

Heat the sugar, butter and milk in a saucepan until the sugar melts. Stirring it all the time, bring it to the boil and do so for 30 minutes.

Drop a little fudge into a bowl of cold water. It should form a soft ball. If not, keep on boiling and testing until it does.

Take the pan off the heat. Add the vanilla then beat it in, until the mixture is thick and creamy. Pour the mixture into the tin.

Leave the fudge to set, then cut it into squares with a kitchen knife.

salads and other things

I quite like salad, but I have never tried them with cucumber. I also like fruit salads, but they taste better if the fruit is fresh, so if you have an apple tree or a pear tree then you can make a fruit salad.

Try this recipe for a brilliant fruit salad.

You will need:

1 orange, half a lemon, 1 pear, 2 bananas, 2 peaches, 225g strawberries, 125g raspberries, caster sugar.

Get a lemon and an orange and squeeze the juice out into a large bowl.

Get a pear and peel it, then cut its core and slice the pear, then peel a banana and slice it, then add it to the bowl too.Stir the fruit into the juice.

Get the peaches and cut them in half, then remove the stones.

Peel the peaches, then slice them. Rinse the strawberries and raspberries, then pat them dry with paper towels. Then cut the stalks out of the strawberries and cut any big ones into quarters.

Add the peaches, strawberries and raspberries to the fruit in the bowl. Sprinkle a bit of sugar over the fruit and mix everything together. Put the fruit salad in the fridge to chill for at least an hour.

My friend is a very good cook. She's definitely a better cook than me. This is some Shepherds Pie my friend made:
The Shepherds pie made by my friend.

If you can't find any recipes, then try looking at the Jamie Oliver website, or maybe try the BBC Good Food website. Cooking is a sort of art, really, and making salad is the same, but it's only like that if it's not store-bought.

welome to the world of cooking!

Cooking is a challenge, especially for the housewife. But one can master it. The other day my 38 old friend made some lemon & lime lemonade.

The lemonade made by my friend.
And I myself made a salad. The recipe is down here:

Some simple salad leaves with no water.

Grate a lemon and sprinkle it on.

Add a bit of lemon juice.

And maybe a few herbs.

And if you have children you could try this recipe for pudding:

Get an orange and cut off the top.

Get rid of the flesh of the orange until you've just got the skin and a bit of the orange.

Put some jelly mixture in it.

And put it in the fridge for 1-2 hours to set.

Fish is a yummy food. My fave is place, but there are many types such as tuna or bass. There are also lots of recipes for fish.
